When a page on your website does not load, an error message will be shown to the site visitor. Since there are different errors, there are different pages that'll display, but what is common for all of them is that they are generic and probably shall have practically nothing that is similar to the design of your site, which may be annoying for any site visitor. That is the main reason why website hosting companies have introduced a function named Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, visitors will see your unique content, which could be informative or humorous, based on your preference, and that will match the design of your website, so the pages will not appear as if they are not part of your Internet site at all. You could use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting
You can set up personalized error pages for all of your sites without difficulty if you use any of our cloud hosting. This could be done using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP, provided with all accounts and when you go there, you could set your custom made pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You must upload the files to your account in advance and input the links to them during the process. This function could be de-activated at any time and the options you'll be able to select from are a standard page from our system or a default Apache server page. Customized error pages can be set with an .htaccess file too. The file should be put into the domain or subdomain folder and it should include some system code and links to the pages. If you're not tech-savvy, you can copy the entire content required for the file from our Help section.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Incorporating your pages for each of the 4 error types to any website hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account with us will be very simple and shall not take more than a couple of clicks. After you upload the files in your account, you can go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia Control Panel and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down menus. You may select what page should display for each and every error type. Your options are a default Apache web server page or a page from our system, and custom made pages. In case you pick the last option, you must type in the link to each page inside your account, then save the change. The link or the type of page which will appear if a user encounters an error can be changed at any time. If you're more experienced, you may use an .htaccess file in order to set in-house developed error pages as well, rather than using our integrated generator software instrument, and if you pick this option, the file should be located in the root directory of a given domain or subdomain.
